Working in partnership with L4 Enterprises, GL11 Community Hub and the Chantry Centre, Tolvik have provided start up funding to The Engine, whose aim is to support the development of social enterprises in the Cam and Dursley area.
This scheme is targeting those new businesses with the potential to offer a lower carbon footprint than the current alternatives. The definition of sustainability is deliberately wide ranging from those businesses clearly operating in the environmental sector through to a company offering a “local” solution – so reducing vehicle miles.
Over time it is hoped that young entrepreneurs who have received financial support under the scheme will also gain access to a wide network of similar local businesses.
The scheme is looking to provide eligible businesses with an interest-free loan or equity investment of up to £25,000 together with mentoring support from a Tolvik director.
The scheme is open to sole traders and companies which are majority owned by an individual born after 1st January 1990, who is resident or whose business is based within Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath, North East Somerset, North Somerset or Somerset.
The current funding round is open to applications.
We are keen to make the application process as easy as possible.
In the first instance, please complete the short form below then submit with a covering letter and an application outlining the funds required and the intended use of the funds. The application should provide confirmation of location eligibility, outline its sustainability credentials, give brief details of the business plan, highlight any other sources of funds secured (or intended to be secured). The initial application should be no more than 2 pages of A4.
